About Greg and Emily

Gregory Duff has been teaching music for 25 years both as a private teacher and as a Learning Through The Arts Artist with the Greater Windsor Essex County District School Board. He has built a reputation for being a creative and dynamic teacher specializing in performance, theory, harmony and composition. Over the years Gregory’s students have won numerous awards at the Windsor-Essex and Chatham Kiwanis Festivals, including Provincials and competitions with the Ontario Registered Music Teacher’s Association. His students routinely take Royal Conservatory exams and in 2023 a student of Gregory’s achieved the National Gold Medal from RCM. Gregory is a prolific composer and has composed music for a number of theatre companies including the Purple Theatre Company, Korda Artistic Productions and 1213 Productions. In addition to teaching Gregory works with various Long Term Care Homes throughout Windsor/Essex providing music for residents. Gregory has his Honours BA in Music from the University of Windsor and his ARCT in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Additionally, he holds an Advanced Specialist certification in piano and theory with RCM.

Emily Duff has been a teacher for 20 years teaching both in public schools, daycare centres and in private practice. Up to 2019, Emily provided weekly music education classes at all of the City of Windsor Early Years Centres and continues to teach at many early learning centres. Emily has cultivated a creative, encouraging and engaging studio for all ages that incorporates theory, history and composition. Emily’s students have participated in the Sunshine Music Festival and the Windsor Essex County Kiwanis Music Festival. Her students regularly take exams through the Royal Conservatory of Music and in 2023 her student earned the Ontario Gold Medal. Emily has a BA and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. Additionally, she holds an Elementary Specialist certification from RCM and is a member of the Ontario Colledge of Teachers in good standing.

Greg and Emily Duff sponsor a composition award at the Windsor Essex Kiwanis Music Festival and host an annual Composing For Good program where students compose, transcribe and perform original compositions. The culminating recital, and book publication, raises money for Stigma Enigma, supporting youth mental health in Windsor/Essex County since 2019
